This fall, Logifem has sweetened the pot and is organising a bake sale fundraiser campaign.

The concept is easy– companies, schools and community groups were encouraged to organise a bake sale within their co-workers, classmates or friends,  and donate the proceeds to Logifem. The money raised will allow us to buy an industrial stove and make necessary upgrades to the cabinets in the shelter’s kitchen.

As we know the kitchen is the centre of any home, and the same is true at Logifem. It’s where our residents, volunteers, interns and staff gather to share meals. Many of the residents have experienced social isolation in the past, sharing meals together is an opportunity not only to eat, but to connect and to build bonds, thus contributing to their mental and social wellbeing.

With Logifem serving 2500 – 3000 meals and snacks/month, it is quite the demand placed on the equipment.

Participants to date have raised a little under $3,000 and they include Evangel Pentecostal Church, Villa Maria high school , Adacel, the Quebec Women’s Baptist group and the Emmaus Anglican Church.  The Montreal Crossroads Church and Sacred Heart school will be hosting their bake sale in the coming weeks. Even Logifem has decided to take part in the initiative. With an aggressive objective of $10,000, we encourage all loyal supporters to persuade their entourage to get involved and host their own bake sale, afterall every sugary bit counts!
