We’re becoming more inclusive to help more women in need.

Quebec’s 5-year domestic violence action plan (2018-2023) includes funds to provide support for emergency shelters to adapt their services so that all women have equal access.

At Logifem, we are committed to offering services to every woman in difficulty, regardless of her religion, race, sexual orientation, language, financial situation, or physical limitation

Immigrant Women – Did you know our website now has information in 13 different languages? Thanks to 2018 government funding, our intervention workers received training on issues relating to immigration and interculturalism. Plus, we piloted an innovative multicultural twinning program aimed at countering the social isolation and language barriers many newly arrived immigrant women face. To help them maintain their cultural identity, we also made changes to our kitchen to allow residents to cook dishes from their country of origin.

Women with Limited Mobility – Renovations will soon be underway thanks to funds received in 2021. By relocating two of our ground floor offices, we will be able to create a universally accessible bathroom and bedroom suite for women and/or children in wheelchairs or with reduced mobility. We are thrilled to be working with our community partner, Architecture sans frontières on this project.

Embracing Diversity – We are working hard to improve access for clients from the LGBTQAI2+ community. Our new sexologist/project coordinator will be helping us adapt our services to be more inclusive, and will work directly with clientele who have special needs related to sexuality, including survivors of sexual assault. She will also be training staff, reviewing current documentation and practices, creating awareness tools for residents, and developing other resources aimed at supporting a more diverse clientele.
