If you came to our “Create for a Cause” fundraising event on International Women’s Day, you will know that the inspiration for this evening of guided painting came from two of our volunteers, Giordano and Alexa, who regularly run an art workshop for Logifem residents. We asked them a few questions about their volunteer activity.
What made you decide to start volunteering at Logifem?
We have dealt with domestic violence in the past, and wanted to make a positive impact on those who may be trying to overcome a similar situation. When we proposed the idea to hold painting workshops with the women, Logifem embraced the project.
What do you think the impact of the painting activity is for the residents of Logifem?
It gives them the opportunity to unwind, to display their creativity, and to produce something they can feel proud of. The activity has allowed many of the women to explore painting for the very first time in their lives, and it has been tremendously rewarding to witness their progress.
What do you enjoy most about running this activity at Logifem?
The environment is warm and welcoming, and Logifem has become a second home for both of us. We adore seeing the originality in each artist’s painting. The women have expressed their gratitude by hugging us and telling us how much they enjoy the activity, which has been extremely heartwarming.
