Temporary housing for women, with or without children

Logifem’s temporary housing — shelters and transitional apartments — is designed for women experiencing homelessness or at risk of it, with or without children. Each space offers a safe, human, and structured environment where women can move through a period of vulnerability with stability and dignity.

Our team provides personalized support throughout every stay, fostering lasting stabilization and a genuine transition toward independence.
This time in housing gives women the space to find their footing, rebuild their lives, and prepare for their next chapter — and their move toward permanent housing.

Our shelters — a place to recover, breathe, and find stability again

Each resident in our shelters has access to three meals a day, washers and dryers, well-maintained common areas, and the full range of Logifem’s services and activities (boutique, food bank, sports and cultural activities, support groups, tax clinic, and more).

Stays in our shelters can last up to 12 months, depending on each woman’s situation and needs.

Maison Benoy — for women with or without children

Maison Benoy includes:

Logifem has made the ground floor of its main shelter fully accessible to welcome women or children who use a wheelchair or have reduced mobility.

La Lumineuse — for mothers with children and/or teenagers

Designed to meet the specific realities of families, this shelter includes:

Mothers share their room with their children. A second room may be assigned to larger families or mothers accompanied by teenagers.

Our priority is to preserve family unity — whether a mother is with young children or teenagers. Whenever possible, a separate room is offered to the teenager to support their privacy and well-being.

Transitional apartments — a stepping stone toward independence and permanent housing

An intermediate step between shelter and permanent housing, our transitional apartments allow women to build independence while continuing to benefit from ongoing support — essential for consolidating the progress made. Stays in transitional apartments can last up to 36 months, depending on each woman’s situation and needs.

To support their food security, residents also have access to Logifem’s food bank service, when needed.

Lionel-Groulx apartments — for women without children

The Lionel-Groulx building includes 7 apartments.

Each unit has a private bedroom, a bathroom, a balcony, a kitchen, a living room, and a dining area. A stove and refrigerator are provided. A shared laundry room is accessible during designated time slots for each resident.

The building is located near a small park and within walking distance of a metro station.

Logifamille apartments — for women with children

The Logifamille site includes 6 apartments: 2 two-bedroom units and 4 three-bedroom units.

Each apartment is equipped with a washer, dryer, stove, and refrigerator, and features a private balcony. A shared backyard is available to all residents. The building is within walking distance of a metro station, with a park and playground directly across the street.

Admission to our shelters

To apply for a spot in one of our shelters, call us at 514-939-3172, available 24/7. During this first call, a pre-admission form can be sent electronically to the woman. If she does not have access to a computer or device, a team member can complete the form with her over the phone.

Depending on availability, a waiting list may be in place before a room is offered. From the very first call, our team is here to support, inform, and follow up throughout the entire process. Women on the waiting list are invited to call in weekly to maintain their place.

Admission to our transitional apartments

Access to Logifem’s transitional apartments is part of a supported pathway. These units are generally offered to women who have stayed in one of our shelters or who are already receiving follow-up support from Logifem, when their situation allows for this next step.

Admission is handled in collaboration with our intervention team, which assesses each woman’s needs, progress, and readiness for this stage on the path to permanent housing. As spaces are limited, prioritization is based on individual situations and availability.

Each woman wishing to join the program completes an application form, and her Logifem caseworker fills out a referral form. Candidates are then reviewed by a selection committee, which determines eligibility.

To apply for a transitional apartment, reach out directly to your Logifem caseworker or contact us at 514-939-3172, available 24/7, for more information.
