Les Voisin·es du Canal — permanent housing for women, with or without children
Les Voisin·es du Canal marks a defining milestone in Logifem’s offerings. It is the organization’s very first permanent housing program, designed for women experiencing homelessness or at risk of it, living alone or with children. Made possible through our collaboration with Habitations Libr’Elles, La Maison des RebElles, and CPE Biscuit, this project expands our work toward long-term housing solutions grounded in stability, dignity, and autonomy.
Located within a 112-unit building in the heart of the Saint-Henri neighbourhood in Montréal, 35 permanent units belong to Logifem — offering a stable, safe, and lasting home to women who have navigated periods of housing insecurity.
Our goal: building a lasting, community-rooted living environment
Les Voisin·es du Canal fosters a spirit of solidarity and neighbourhood life, supported by an on-site presence whose role is to nurture a sense of belonging and mutual support among residents, facilitate access to local resources and community services, and accompany the collective day-to-day life of the building.
This support goes beyond housing — it helps create a dynamic, human living environment where every woman can engage, thrive, and build her independence.

Our permanent housing
The apartments offer an autonomous living environment while fostering meaningful social connections among residents.
Unit features:
Les Voisin·es du Canal includes 35 apartments in a range of sizes — from one to four bedrooms — to meet both individual and family needs. All units are accessible to people with disabilities, and seven are adaptable.
Each unit includes:
- appliances and air conditioning;
- a private balcony and access to a shared rooftop terrace;
- elevator access;
- a community room with a kitchen;
- an on-site community organizer;
- optional parking space (at an additional cost).
Rent and housing costs:
Apartments are subsidized at 25% of income through the rent supplement program. Hot water and electricity are the responsibility of the tenant.
Neighbourhood life:
Affordable and well-integrated into the Saint-Henri neighbourhood, the units are close to a wide range of services, transit options, and community resources.
They are just steps from Parc Sir-George-Étienne-Cartier, the Place-Saint-Henri metro station, and several primary and secondary schools. Rue Notre-Dame — with its restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, and cafés — is easily accessible, as are the Saint-Zotique recreational, cultural, and sports centre and Mission Bon Accueil‘s programs and services. Residents can also enjoy the Lachine Canal, its cycling path, and Atwater Market.
