Children’s Club and Empowerment for Mothers

A free program to heal and move forward together after violence.

The Children’s Club and Empowerment for Mothers (CCEM) is a program open to all mothers and their children aged 6 to 12—whether or not they are residents of Logifem—who have experienced family violence.

CCEM offers safe spaces for discussion and support to foster healing, strengthen the parent–child bond, and accompany families on their pathway towards autonomy, within a caring and secure environment.

For many years, Logifem has supported women, with or without children, who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. For many, this housing instability is linked to experiences of intimate partner violence.

While housing is essential, it alone is not enough to achieve long-term stability. CCEM is part of Logifem’s continuum of services and aims to support women and their children beyond housing, helping consolidate gains and promote long-term healing and resilience.

CCEM was developed by Sandra A. Graham-Bermann, professor at the University of Michigan, whose research highlights the importance of working simultaneously with mothers and their children.

The program offers safe spaces where participants can express emotions, better understand the impacts of violence, and develop strategies that support well-being and resilience

The program is delivered in French and can also be offered in a 100% English group, depending on demand. Entirely free of charge thanks to the support of our partners, it takes place in a confidential and respectful setting, offering participants a safe and welcoming space. Two groups run in parallel to address the specific needs of mothers and children.
