I am astounded by how quickly time rolls by! We are entering the holiday season once again and 2015 is just around the corner. 2014 has be a remarkable year for Logifem, so much has happened and we are infinitely grateful for all the opportunities that have presented themselves. For many years it has been our desire to provide more transitional housing to women with children; currently we can provided shelter to women with children in our main house for one year, however at the end of this period our options were limited. I am happy to announce that renovations are well underway on our new building and, once completed, we will be able to accommodate up to six families. The occupation date is scheduled for February 2015 and we have six families anxiously waiting to take up residency in our newly renovation complex.
We have been so blessed by the outpouring of support from the community; we were recently informed by a corporate donor that they would furnish all major appliances for the six units. When I got this news I had to look heaven-ward and smile as this was one of the items that had been worrying me for months.
As the holiday season approaches, may you take time amidst all the noise and glitter to quiet your hearts and minds to reflect on the real significance of Christmas. It is so easy to get caught up in the parties, the food and the gifts that we can easily forget the real gift of the season. Truly the greatest gift was not found under a tree!
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
– Isaiah 9:6
On behalf of Logifem I wish you a blessed Christmas and an abiding peace and contentment that surpasses all understanding.
Joan Soares, Logifem President of the Board of Directors
